432. The utterance “I know…” can only have its meaning in connection with other evidence of my ‘knowing’.



to say ‘I know’ is to say –

‘I have an authority for this proposition’ –

the only authority you have –

is your authorship

and the only evidence you have –

of your authorship –

is your assertion
