'For the person or persons that hold dominion, can no more combine with the keeping up of majesty the running with harlots drunk or naked about the streets, or the performances of a stage player, or the open violation or contempt of laws passed by themselves than they can combine existence with non-existence'.

- Benedict de Spinoza. Political Treatise. 1677.

on certainty 422

422.  So I am trying to say something that sounds like pragmatism.

Here I am being thwarted by a kind of Weltanschauung.

a Weltanschauung

a world view –

is in the end –

only a proposal –

a proposition –

and like any proposition –

any proposal –

open to question –

open to doubt –

uncertain

you will only feel ‘thwarted’ –

if you have fallen for

the deception –

the delusion –

of certainty
