392. What I need to shew is that doubt is not necessary even when it is possible. That the possibility of the language-game doesn’t depend on everything being doubted. (This is connected with role of contradiction in mathematics.)

whether doubt is exercised or not–

will depend on circumstances

the ground of any language use –

is uncertainty

if you try to avoid uncertainty  –

to deny it –

you will not function effectively

in mathematics –

contradiction renders a proposition –

non-functional
