on certainty 514


514. This statement appeared to me fundamental; if it is false, what are true or false any more?!



if by ‘fundamental’ is meant –

that which is beyond question –

beyond doubt –

there is no fundamental

any statement is open to question –

open to doubt –

the ground of all propositional action –

is uncertainty

‘true’ is what you assent to –

for whatever reason

‘false’ is what you dissent from –

for whatever reason
