on certainty 504


504. Whether I know something depends on whether the evidence backs me up or contradicts me. For to say one knows one has a pain means nothing.



‘evidence’ is nothing in a claim to know –

unless the claim to know –

is presupposed –

in the claim to evidence –

and the claim to know –

as a claim to an authority –

beyond authorship –

has no logical value –

it’s only value is rhetorical –

the point of evidence –

is persuasion –

‘evidence’ –

is rhetoric
