on certainty 356

356.  My “mental state”, the ‘knowing”, gives me no guarantee of what will happen. But it consists in this, that I should not understand where a doubt could get a foothold nor where a further test was possible.



if your mental state – your knowing –

gives you no guarantee of what will happen –

then your mental state – your knowing is –

uncertain –

and if you understand this –

and run with it –

then of course you will see –

where a doubt could get a foothold –

and that a further test –

is always possible
