296. This is what we call an “empirical foundation” for our assumptions.



that the same thing has happened again –

is not proof – but it gives us the right to assume it

and this then is what we call –

the ‘empirical foundation’ of our assumptions –

‘a right to assume’?

as if there is some authority –

behind assumption –

the authority of a right

the point of assumption is that there is no authority –

we assume –

in the absence of authority –

and any assumption –

is uncertain –

which is to say –

without foundation
