on certainty 289


289. I am firmly convinced that others believe, believe they know, that all that is in fact so.



if you are ‘firmly convinced’ here –

it can’t be on the basis of what you see and hear –

or how you interpret what you see and hear

for there is nothing to guarantee

your perceptions –

or your interpretations

so any view you have –

must be regarded as uncertain –

open to question –

open to doubt

and if that is the case –

your being ‘firmly convinced’ –

is pretense –

and /or delusion
