on certainty 189

189. At some point one has to pass from explanation to mere description.



logically speaking –

so called ‘explanation’ – is description –

the idea that you can account for a proposition –

and give final account –

is pretentious and false –

such ‘explanation’ –

is just rhetoric

the point is –

if you divest ‘explanation’ of rhetoric –

what you get is description – plain and simple –

and furthermore –

any description is open to question –

open to doubt –

is uncertain
